English/Volunteers at Kibbutz Baram

Kibbutz Baram was founded in 1949, and is located in the Upper Galilee, near the Lebanese border. Baram is a "medium size" Kibbutz, with 290 members and approximately 200 children.

Public transportation is hard to find but coming and going with cars of the Kibbutz is quite convenient - just ask the help of volunteer coordinator. Hitching a ride is considered dangerous and not recommended.

The Volunteer Program usually consists of between 30 to 50 volunteers. All the volunteers in Baram are referred here by the kibbutz program center – KPC. The KPC will take care of all the necessary paper work before your arrival to Israel. Make sure to conyact them through the website: www.kibbutzvolunteers.org.il before you buy your ticket!

Baram owns 2 factories. One for storing, refrigerating and packing apples and other fruits,  and the other producing different types of disposable medical devices. Other work places include the dining room, kitchen, gardens, folding laundry, and others. Most of the volunteers' work is indoors.

The kibbutz will provide your basic needs, I e: housing, food, laundry. You will also get pocket money for personal needs.

Once a month, on a Saturday, there is a day-trip, and 3 times a year there is a 3-day trip.

All the Jewish holidays are celebrated here, and the volunteers are welcome to take part in them.  On Christmas, there is a big party for the volunteers, followed by a fun day trip.
